That would depend on where you are hunting regarding local hunting regulations. Personally, I would suggest at least 50# in weight for an adult elk, but people have successfully killed elk with 45#.
I wouldn't go past 30" with a 62" bow. It is not comfortable, and is critical to accuracy past that draw.
